BCSNOVA offers trained, caring and professional staff to monitor, coach and supervise visits between children and adults. Usually this is between parent or grandparent and child but can also be for siblings. Supervised visitation is available to assist with custody disputes, reunification or court orders.
Safe, neutral setting available for visits
Trained staff provide supervision
Therapeutic interventions (parenting skills, coaching and behavior modification)
Detailed documentation (notes provided for each visit)
Supervised visitation is when counselors monitor, coach and supervise visits between biological or adoptive parents and children, children or other relatives and children. Visitation can be observation only or can be more in depth to include counseling. Counselors can provide assistance with:
reunification
family connection goals
adherence to court orders
safety planning
behavior modification planning
The staff encourages good parenting using proven techniques such as
redirection
connection/engagement
role modeling
appropriate behavior modification strategies through positive reinforcement and natural consequences
effective communication
Visits are held at a safe, neutral, and therapeutic setting in the community, at the counseling center or in a neutral home environment.
Supervised visitation sessions vary in length depending on the needs and wants of the family and the counselor assigned. The counselor will work directly with the family in order to meet their needs and possible time frames and duration of the visit.
Unfortunately, insurance does not cover supervised visitation services.
