John R.

John is a Liberty University graduate with a B.S. in Exercise Science. Since graduating from Liberty, he has worked in the fitness industry in the northern Virginia area as a personal trainer and group exercise coach. In his years working with people of all ages, from children to senior citizens, he has realized that people trust their trainer with a lot more than their fitness goals. People are hurting and John feels called to serve those in need. “For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come (1 Tim. 4:8 ESV). Seeing that he has had multiple opportunities to counsel his clients through various situations and struggles as a lay-person and friend while serving their physical health needs, John is looking to equipe people to heal the body, mind and spirit.

John served in Ghana, Africa in 2019 for four months, preaching and teaching the gospel, hermeneutics, and evangelizing and discipling. He was invited back in 2023 to preach as the main speaker at the Good News Bible Church National Youth Conference. John enjoyed spurring the youth on in the faith and encouraging them to pursue the Lord. He has worked for the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, administering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children with autism and other intense emotional behaviors. He has also volunteered with Joni and Friends doing similar work with children with special needs. He has led basketball camps over the summer for children ages 9-16 years old. During and since college, he has expressed his creative side through the avenue of theater, performing onstage the works of Shakespeare, Oliver Goldsmith, and Oscar Wilde. Over the past several months, John has prayed, sought counsel, and researched the field of Biblical counseling. He started taking Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF) classes and has prayerfully decided to journey down the road of Biblical Counseling.

John has a heart for the true needs of those he encounters. As a Christian, he finds hope in the Lord as his refuge and strength through pain, sin, and sorrow. John endeavors to pour into his clients the truth of Jesus Christ even while training to achieve their fitness goals. Jesus came for the broken and downtrodden. He is abundant in mercy, and John aspires to direct others to the worship of God. He currently serves as a community group leader and youth leader at Hamilton Baptist Church.

John is married to his beloved wife, Danielle, and together they aspire to serve God and love others. They enjoy many things together, like hiking, biking, kayaking, listening to soundtracks, and watching emotional movies. John finds great comfort in Psalm 34:9: “Fear the Lord, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing.”
