Kim
Kim founded Biblical Counseling Services of Northern Virginia (BCSNOVA) in 2017. She is passionately and prayerfully following God’s call to counsel His people - all ages, male and female, individuals, couples, or families, through a wide variety of situations, both spiritual and psychological in their time of need. Kim was awarded her Master of Arts in Religion, specializing in Social Work and Biblical Counseling in 2004.
Kim meets with other Biblical Counselors quarterly at the council of DC Metro BC sessions. In 2019, she became FETI (Forensic Experiential Trauma Interviewing) certified. Kim has had specialized training in ADHD and is a certified ADHD-CCSP professional. Kim is certified in the advanced diagnosis, treatment and management of personality disorders C-PD. Kim holds herself accountable to a Board of Advisors that include other educated and experienced men and women who love the Lord and are stable in their own walk with Christ. She maintains her Continuing Education Credits through CCEF, attending conferences, seminars, and trainings.
Kim began her career as a child therapist and quickly became site supervisor and manager of the child behavior specialists. Kim has worked with CSB, CSA, Courts, PO's, CPS, and DSS.
Working with teens in residential treatment, the juvenile detention center, and those who have experienced emotional dysregulation because of attachment disruption and loss, as well as children with problem sexual behaviors, has been some of Kim’s most rewarding work. Kim conceptualized and brought to fruition her vision of a Therapeutic Summer Day Program for at-risk kids ages 5-10 years old, fully funded by insurance. Kim has worked successfully with children and adult survivors of sexual abuse and assault. She has facilitated the restorative healing process when appropriate with victims and perpetrators of all ages. In 2021 Kim was blessed to implement and offer a program at BCSNOVA to help perpetrators of Intimate Partner Violence alongside a shepherding team. Kim has testified in court cases as a recognized expert witness in the field of child and adolescent mental health.
Kim has a heartfelt desire to see clients reach their full potential in spiritual and emotional health so they can live out their God given callings. Kim is a vibrant and caring individual. Beyond private counseling, after college, Kim served in various roles such as homeless shelter intern, drug and alcohol addiction treatment intern, college ministry leader, music teacher, worship leader, youth ministry leader, Bible study leader, victim advocate, and speaker.
Counseling sessions with Kim may incorporate talk, play, art and music therapy, scripture, and always prayer. With experience in trauma, crisis, domestic violence, pregnancy, addiction, sexual abuse, adoption/ RAD, ODD, ADHD, marriage and family, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Adjustment disorders, mood disorders, grief, and parenting in the modern world, Kim is ready and waiting to help you begin healing.
Kim is mother to three girls and loves spending quality time with them, her family and friends, and worshiping regularly with a local body of believers. She has a passion to know Christ and to make Him known in every circle.
